Adie Burr Resigns

Postby nuneatongazza on Tue Nov 03, 2009 11:34 am

WOW. Adie burr has resigned as chairman and Dave Allen has stepped in as interim chairman. Not sure what Daz Fulfood and the other management staff will think of this :?: :?:
I know Adie was not to everybody's liking but he DID get the club back off its feet and on the map again. :)
Now IS the time to get behind the players, management and most important, THE CLUB.
Maybe all the people who have not gone down to the Adders because of their personal opinion of Mr Burr will now get their £7 out of their pockets and get down tonight

Well said Gazza, now is the time for all true Adders fans to get right behind the club in whatever way they can.
Those of us who know Adie will not be too surprised by the news, given the intransigence of the Council, who seem disinterested in maintaining a major community facility in the town. What a disgrace!
Adie's full statement can be found on the News page.
Thanks to Dave Allen for stepping into the hotseat once again (assuming what Gazza says is true) and in Dave's honour I'll sign off in his usual way - UP THE ADDERS !

Really have to feel for Daren and the playing staff who must be wondering what is going on. If the problems with the council were so great then why hasnt a petition been sent around both the club and local area to show the the feeling of the support?

Everyone knows that nonleague football is a money pit and I am sure we all thank Mr Burr on the huge amount of cash invested into the club. The problem is that we have again not kept our eye on the cashflow with last seasons investment being thrown at the team budget and this season it has only just been noticed that we have not taken any sponsership money at all since the start of the season.

I know everyones going to think oh here we go be greatful we have a club and stop moaning but it seems that although we have no debts we also have not had a clear idea of our incomings and out goings and thats why we had no idea that there was no new sponsorship.

Running a football club is a thankless job and anyone who does step forward must be totally mad. I do thank Mr Burr for his time in charge and also Dave for stepping in. I will be writing to the council to find out what their position on the matter is as it does all seem very strange.

Now is the time for everyone to do their bit for the club, whether is be bringing an extra person along to the games or helping out where you can. I for one don't want to see the budget cut to an extent where we go down a couple of leagues and are happy just to see a game of football on a Saturday, but for that not to happen we all need to show our support. I think Adie has done a great job in the last couple of years and many clubs would envy the position The Adders are in (being 'debt free'). Hope that we can all pull together and make a successful and self supporting club.

UP THE ADDERS!

I am very sorry to hear the news that Adie has stepped down, but am suprised that he took 18 months to realise something he was told 18 months ago. He is to be congratulated for what has happened over that period, in maintaining the clubs present position. The problem now falls to the next chairman to balance the books and run the club to its level of income. Dave, if it is going to be you I wish you all the best for the ensuing months, because believe me you will need it. Speaking from my own experience of handling finances for a club in a lower position than you, it ain't no easy job and the fans and all those connected with the club will have to accept that eventually some sacrifices will have to be made.

I think I also speak for those who have moved on when I say that I truly hope that everything eventually turns out good for the club, for although we no longer have anything to do with Atherstone, part of us still feels for a club that was once part of our lives.

Dave and the rest of you, I wish you all the luck in the world and sincerely hope that you manage to keep the club afloat. To the fans I say this - stick with it and accept whatever the future holds without you the club is nothing and to desert it now would be criminal.

Adie Burr resigning as chairman might not mean the end for the club, but if has he says Springbourne Homes are our only sponser and they have pulled the plug then the future looks grim. From what the statement says gate receipts only cover expenses leaving nothing for players/management wages. We would need to double attendances just to raise £300-£400 a week as a wage bill. According to the Forum we have 270 members yet highest gate to date is only 214 so turn your computers off , get off your arses and get down to the match tonite.Lets at least fight for the club while we still can.
