Here we go again!

Postby the boot room on Fri Oct 30, 2009 11:05 pm

Yet again in the history of Atherstone football club we are being told that the club could be in financial trouble. I think it's time that the supporters were told that Daren Fulford and his staff are doing an excellent job, with very little resources and no where near the budget we have had in previous seasons. Not once have I read that Fulford has gone to the press moaning about the lack of money at his disposal, even when the fans have been very vocal about not bringing in so called big name players. Slowly but surely the team is being rebuilt with quality youngsters. Yes, the results have been up and down but the lads are playing for the club and not for financial reward. Some supporters have given the manager a hard time but Daren and Dave Heywood always makes themselves available after the game to answer any questions.
At the start of the season a lot of people were tipping us for relegation but we are currently sitting above half way in the table.

For the first time in the history of the club the Youth Team have reached the first round proper of the FA Youth Cup (not bad for a small club) but few of you will know this as the so called "Atherstone Herald" or the Evening News have not reported it! Nine youth team players have pulled on a first team jersey this season and not once let the club down, which shows the faith that the manager has in these youngsters.
We all need to rally round OUR FOOTBALL CLUB to make sure that football stays at Sheepy Road.

Nuneatongazza, Does it really matter who the posting is from, as long as its correct. I also know that Mr Fulford is working on a shoe string budget, not sure how much the majority of the fans think the players are being paid, but I can bet it's more than they actually are. Would like to know what the club is doing to bring in extra money, can they not get sponsorship from the local companies, such as Aldi UPS et, most of these large companies have money that they can put into local projects/community funds, has anyone approached them?

All these fake names from people obviously involved in the club, very annoying.

The meeting this morning was INTERESTING, the problem is that the club needs to prove itself to be a viable business. For external investment Atherstone Town FC need to show that they can balance the books without being bankrolled. They need to show that they listen to the community and also at all times they are truthful. If the club was on dragons den would they invest (knowing the past)? the answer is no because there is no trust in the club.

Today was maybe a good step forward , be interesting to see what happens next.

daniel firstly ups havent been approached i can tell you that because i am the contact there and the club as boot room has said is surviving on a shoe string but Darren And dave haywood both put the trust in the youngsters .

But this isnt a overnight process this is a time thing youth has to be given the time to develop and as boot room has put whoever he is is that the youth have achived great things this season first round proper Fa youth cup and 5 youth team players in southern league. football scouts from most local big clubs coming down week after week to see these young guys that says it all .Gone have the days of big budgets in non league we have to look at the local talent to bridge the gaps .

But this will not happen over night
YOU WOULDNT EXPECT TO RUN BEFORE YOU CAN WALK :o

how much longer are people going to keep on about Jimmy and what happened. if you dont like adir burr then thats a personal choice, but why dont everybody on here get down there on a match day regardless of who the chairman or manager is and put £7 through the gates to keep the club going.
if ever THE CLUB did fold the same people will be moaning about no football club in atherstone

Well said Gaz. Jimmy has gone, the Adders ARE STILL THERE! If Jimmy had gone to Boro would these people have followed him there? He would have gone there like a shot if he had been offered the job instead of Kevin Wilkin. Move on and get behind the team again - if it all folds again then those people who don't go any more will have Adders blood on their hands.

I raise my glass to Sparky, Gaz and John - well said boys !
Those who doubt what Daren is building should have been at Bedworth and Stourport over the past week.
The team is based around youngsters who've got their football careers ahead of them and who are happy to be part of the manager's building and longer term plans, and to play for not much more than expenses.
These are the club's lifeline and, hopefully, future - not the expensive collection of overpaid mercenaries assembled by the previous management.
With glass in hand, here's to the future of a great little club ! - THE ADDERS .
