Really enjoyed the game tonight. Highgate were a good side but for me, the Adders were outstanding. If there was a 50/50 to be won it was a red and white shirt winning it and they played some great football, some of the passing, particularly late in the game, wouldn't have looked out of place in the football league.

First goal came from Tom Weale, the Highgate keeper has come out of his box to clear, Weale has controlled the ball right out on the right wing, about 40 yards from goal, he's taken a couple of touches before almost casually driving the ball into the net.

The second has come quite late into the second half, Highgate were pushing forward looking for an equaliser but the defence were dealing with everything thrown at them and once gaps started appearing in the Highgate defence the Adders midfield were getting on the ball and cutting them to pieces. It was only a matter of time before they got a second. I don't know the scorer but the cross came in from Jordan Brown on the left and the lad at the far post was left to fire home, it was a difficult chance under pressure from the keeper but he took it superbly.

Well done to everyone involved tonight, the management got things spot on tactically, it was the Adders players who looked fitter going into the final 20 minutes and on the pitch they gave it everything from start to finish. A thoroughly deserved victory.

If the club are planning to go with youth from here on in then that doesn't look like a bad decision to me on the evidence of tonight and last night.

Well done to the lads tonight and beating a tricky and also dirty Highgate team ( that includes their parents).
Full credit to Mark,Wayne and Steve for preparing the lads and even though sometimes in the 1st half we were camped inside our own half,,but the lads dug deep and could have had 3 or 4 in the 2nd half
I,m disapointed that more regulars did not turn up tonight though. Come on fellow ADDERS fans, the club needs your support

was at the game 2 nite and well done the adders .wayne chapman has turned the team around big time since he joined the club well done mark 4 getting him involved.hopefully you can progress further if you keep listening 2 him ,told you he was the best coach around here ,well done 2 you all and good luck in the next round.

glad you have surfaced again if i had known you were at the game on wednesday we could have had a chat .

what is your problem with Mark i am intruged he has gone and kept wayne at the club obviously and also assembeld his back room staff . i watched the warm up and the way all the staff conducted themselves on wednesday and can i just say me being involved at championship side they looked very proffesional.and as i said in the past they compliment each other well

but i sense a dislike of Mark with your comments Maybe he dumped you as a rangers player ?

any way onto the game what a fantastic achivement by ALL in the youth set up i saw some disapionted lads with tracksuits in the stand before the game dont know who they were but they will get there chance. i also saw a lad walk up to mark and shake his hand before the game dont know who he was but that is fantastic he has played for the youth i have seen him playin the back four . but the team spirit shown at the game before after and during the match was fantastic. and what a game for a nueatral to watch. one thing Mark will install is a never say die attitude and they gave there all.

Great goal by the blonde lad on the wing and overall Atherstone deserved the win by a mile enjoy your away day up north wherever it may be you HAVE ALL MADE ATHERSTONE HISTORY

how can the council turn the back on this club Atherstone has always been a breeding ground for good players and with Darren Fulford in the seat he just like Mark started with kids football i take my hat of to him for having the faith in the youngsters but as previous posts have said it isnt a quick fix and rome wasnt built in a day. Stick with these guys get of you backsides support Darren AND Mark
get on the coach to go and watch the youth team sing your Atherstone hearts out and enjoy the day

But most of all dont let this club die look towards the future it is going to be a great one if you can ride the storm out

Brilliant post slippery summed up my feelings to a tee.
My problem is i dont think that the people of atherstone realise the danger by keeping away from the club.
Even this forum remains very quite, i am being deadly serious to everyone out there who supports the adders.
Your club needs you, without your support the adders will fold lock stock and barrel and what a waste that would be.
We need to run with a reasonable playing budget if not we will imo lose the current managers and players at first team level and then be forced to play the kids in the southern league.
That might suit the council then as its there land.
So come on tell me is it worth fighting for or do we all just walk away and let it fold.
